South Carolina lands commitment from Georgia linebacker AJ Holloway
South Carolina’s most recent series of official visits has yielded another commitment for the class of 2025.
This time, Buford (Ga.) linebacker AJ Holloway made his pledge to the Gamecocks on Friday via social media.
“I just feel like South Carolina is the perfect fit for me and my family,” Holloway told On3’s Steve Wiltfong.
“What excites me most about the South Carolina Gamecocks program is their strong tradition of developing players and the electric atmosphere in Willams-Brice Stadium.”
Holloway listed South Carolina as his “top one” after his visit with the program during the weekend of June 7-9.

“I got to see where I would play at, got to see the campus and campus life, all that,” said Holloway of the visit. “(Player host Ronnie Porter) just showed me the ropes, how living life as a college player would be like. I just learned from him this whole weekend.”
The 6-foot-3, 225-pounder is listed as a three-star recruit, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. Holloway is tabbed the No. 91 linebacker and the No. 83 player from the state of Georgia in the class of 2025 in the same ranking. He is also listed as the No. 809 national prospect.

Defensive coordinator Clayton White led Holloway’s recruitment throughout the process. Holloway had previously received offers from more than 15 schools, including Louisville, North Carolina, Kansas, Auburn, LSU and Texas.
Louisville was considered the other finalist.

“They really say that I can move around a lot too.,” Holloway described. “MIKE, WILL SAM, all that. I just want to move around a little bit. I love it. It’s really similar to my high school defensive scheme, too. I feel really good about it.”
Holloway is the 11th public commitment in South Carolina’s 2025 class and fifth prospect to go public with a pledge this week. The Gamecocks also have two silent commits that are yet to go public.
Holloway is the second linebacker commit in the class joining Blackville (S.C.) Blackville-Hilda three-star Jaquel Holman, who could potentially play some other positions too.
