South Carolina senior EDGE rusher earns all-star game invite

After transferring to South Carolina from Georgia Tech this offseason, accolades have poured in for Kyle Kennard.
In the last ten days, No. 5 has been named a finalist for the Lombardi Award and a semifinalist for the Bednarik Award, Nagurski Award, and Walter Camp National Player of the Year Award. He also was the SEC’s co-Defensive Lineman of the Week back in week one, an honor he shared with freshman Dylan Stewart.
Through ten games of the 2024 season, Kennard has logged 10.5 sacks and 14.5 tackles for loss. He is just 2.5 sacks from Jadeveon Clowney’s single-season Gamecock record. Kennard also currently leads the SEC in both categories.

Kennard joins fellow Gamecock Gage Larvadain as players invited to postseason all-star games. Larvadain already accepted an invitation to the Hula Bowl.
Kennard likely will garner other postseason all-star consideration. In particular, the Reese’s Senior Bowl has expressed an interest in the talented pass rusher. It is unclear at this time how the Gamecock senior plans to utilize his offseason as he trains for the NFL Draft. The Senior Bowl has a higher percentage of its participants drafted each year than both the Shrine Bowl and the Hula Bowl combined.
Once the all-star circuit ends, Kennard will turn his attention to the draft. The EDGE player will be one of several South Carolina alums taken in the 2025 NFL Draft. Some draft analysts consider him a possible 1st-round selection, and he seems locked into being a top-100 pick.
