The Gamecocks land their first 2025 commit of the cycle, picking up a pledge from forward Hayden Assemian Tuesday afternoon.

On3 ranks Assemian as the No. 150 player in the 2025 class and a three-star prospect. He’s the No. 2 player in the state for his class.

South Carolina hosted Assemian multiple times over the last two weeks, offering him and ultimately landing his commitment soon after that.

“It’s great. I’ve been talking to them since June when we were able to talk to coaches. Coach (Lamont) Paris and some of the other coaches came to our June live period. They like my game and how hard I play. Growing up around the South Carolina-Clemson rivalry,” Assemian told GamecockCentral after his offer.

“It was really cool going down there and seeing the culture and vibe and how everyone loves Gamecock football and basketball. It’s cool knowing I grew up with that, I got to see it and I actually have the ability to maybe play for them one day.”

Assemian recently played at Legacy (S.C.) but will play this season at Powdersville.

“They like my motor. No matter what happens I’m always on 100 going down, dunking everything. He said I’m one of the more physical guys on the court and I always try to be like that,” he said. “I feel like I can impact the game in a lot of ways with rebounds, blocked shots, hustling on the court. They said they like my hustle and the way I encourage my teammates and the way I finish through contact.”

South Carolina was also at his high school over the last few weeks to watch him work out.

“It’s great. I feel like coach Paris is a down-to-earth guy. He doesn’t think he’s all that…He just loves working with guys and getting them better and trying to get them to the NBA,” Assemian said. “I talk to him several times every day. They’re great people. I feel like if were to go there, it would be good and they would develop me really well.”
