In-state LB commits to South Carolina
One of the most athletic prospects in the state of South Carolina decided on Saturday to commit to the Gamecocks.
Blackville-Hilda linebacker Jaquel Holman announced his pledge to Shane Beamer’s program on social media.
“I want to thank all the colleges and coaches that recruited me,” Holman said on X. “The decision was not easy, as all of the programs that offered me are great. After a lot of thought and talks with my parents, I am happy to announce my commitment to the University of South Carolina!”

Holman turned in a standout workout on day one of South Carolina football’s summer camp sessions last weekend. That earned the 2025 prospect an offer, one that he had termed as his “dream” offer heading into the summer.

Holman measured in at 6-foot-1.5, 196-pounds and ran a 4.49 40 with a 4.28 shuttle.
The On3 Industry Ranking tabs Holman as a three-star prospect.
This track season – Holman’s first participating in the sport – he captured multiple state championships as a sprinter. He took home trophies in the 100 meter, 200 meter, and 4×100 meter dashes.
“Holman looks like an exciting prospect, and I think has a lot of signs of being kind of an under-the-radar in-state gem in the state of South Carolina,” On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power told GamecockCentral.com. “He’s one who, I think first came on my radar earlier in the offseason, just seeing his name bubble up just with impressive game performances and just kind of in showcase performances. I think when you go back and watch his junior season, there’s no question he is a big-time athlete on Friday nights.”
