South Carolina is in the top three for former The Citadel wing Hayden Brown.

Brown is an accomplished player over the last two seasons especially in Charleston, averaging 18.8 points per game in his last two years.

This season, he shot 51.5 percent from the field, 28.4 percent from three, but pulled in 9.5 rebounds and had an assist to turnover ratio right near one.

His box plus-minus of 18.8 was the best among regular contributors and he had a 4.1 win share, best on the team by a full 1.5.

Brown is a two-time All-Southern Conference wing who is originally from Greer, South Carolina, and played at Byrnes High School.

South Carolina is joined by perennial mid-major power Loyola Chicago in the final three along with Georgia Tech.

The Gamecocks showed Brown interest early this offseason and have as well since Lamont Paris took over seven days ago.

South Carolina has seen its fair share of portal defections, five scholarship players, but are in the thick of it currently to bring someone in from the portal as well.

Paris said earlier in his introductory press conference he would not be afraid to use the portal to his advantage when building a roster.

“The landscape of recruiting has changed. That’s part of it. You have to adapt to what’s out there and use the tools that are out there,” he said. “The transfer portal can be a great way to supplement what you have going. Especially if you take a job over and getting started with something.”
