South Carolina LB Fred Johnson moves to four-star status in final On3 rankings
South Carolina freshman linebacker Fred Johnson is now a four-star prospect and is one of six Gamecocks in the final edition of the On300 for the 2024 class, which was released by On3 on Monday afternoon.
The 6-foot-4, 225-pound Norfolk (Va.) Maury standout is ranked by On3 as the No. 240 overall prospect in his class with a rating of 92. On3 previously had Johnson as an 89, the highest rating in the three-star category.

For clarity’s sake, the On3 rankings are compiled by the company’s team, led by Charles Power and Cody Bellaire, and are different than the On3 Industry Ranking, which is a weighted average of all four of the major recruiting media services. The On3 Industry Ranking will also adjust with the latest On3 updates.
This rankings release marks the final update and is heavily informed by continued senior season evaluations and national all-star games that featured nearly 200 of the nation’s top prospects.
Evaluation of the senior season is heavily prioritized in On3’s process as it has proven to be among the most predictive evaluation points in a high school prospect’s development.
South Carolina continues to have two five-star prospects in the On3 rankings.
Washington (D.C.) Friendship Collegiate EDGE Dylan Stewart and Dillon (S.C.) offensive tackle Josiah Thompson are the two highest-ranked Gamecocks in the class, both completing their high school careers as five-star prospects.
Stewart checks in at No. 12 in the country while Thompson is No. 16.
