South Carolina linebacker heading to 2025 Reese's Senior Bowl
South Carolina linebacker Demetrius Knight Jr. has officially been invited to the 2025 Reese’s Senior Bowl, announced on Tuesday.
It’s a high honor for Knight, who’s in his sixth and final year of college football after transferring to the Gamecocks for this season. He’s been outstanding on defense and a key part of the team’s overall success. Knight has racked up 65 tackles, 47 of which have been solo, with two sacks and two forced fumbles.
Knight spent the first four years of his career at Georgia Tech before transferring to Charlotte in 2023. He had a career year with the 49ers, finishing with a team-best 96 tackles, 1.5 sacks and three interceptions.
Back in August, Knight was one of 14 Gamecocks to be named to the Reese’s Senior Bowl watchlist. So far, he’s the only player from South Carolina to receive an invitation, though more could come for other players soon.

The Reese’s Senior Bowl takes place well after the college football season ends and only weeks before the NFL Scouting Combine. The game will be played on Feb. 1, 2025 at Hancock Whitney Stadium on the campus of the University of South Alabama in Mobile, Alabama. Kickoff will be at 1:30 p.m. on NFL Network.
As for Knight, he still has a few more games left to play in his time at South Carolina. The Gamecocks will travel to face Clemson on Saturday at noon on ESPN in their regular season finale. They’ll then await to see where they’ll be heading in the postseason, whether it’s in the College Football Playoff or a bowl game.
