South Carolina long snapper Hunter Rogers earns minicamp invite

South Carolina long snapper Hunter Rogers is headed to Atlanta. On Sunday, the former Gamecock told GamecockCentral that he’s received a minicamp invite by the Falcons.
One of the biggest unsung heroes for South Carolina over the past three years, Rogers was a two-time All-SEC selection, including being named to the Coaches All-SEC First Team in 2023. Appearing at the Gamecocks’ long snapper for the past 43 games, that’s a range that goes back to the final five games of the 2021 season.

Whether it be on a punt or for a field goal, you never had to worry about Rogers because the operation time was always going to be consistent and his accuracy on his snaps got better and better over time. He was also vital as a gunner, as teams would often game plan around trying to stop him, which freed up others to make plays.

Doing trick plays on special teams starts with having a long snapper you can trust, and Rogers certainly proved that. He also caught a touchdown pass against Notre Dame in the 2022 Gator Bowl. The Spring Valley High School (S.C.) product is the 15th Gamecock to either be signed or invited to rookie minicamp, including the tenth non-drafted player.
