South Carolina is just over two days away from one of the most-anticipated spring game in recent memory.

The Gamecocks cap spring practice Saturday night with the Garnet and Black game, a chance for fans to see players and the new talent for the first time.

Before things kick-off, here’s a look at a few guys on the offensive side of the ball Saturday night.

Spencer Rattler

It wouldn’t be a spring game list without the mention of Rattler, the most talked-about Gamecock on the roster this season.

Saturday’s game will be the first chance fans and media get to see Rattler in a real South Carolina uniform. It’ll also be the first chance to see what he can do in Marcus Satterfield’s offense. Fans can also see how he looks in terms of arm strength and movement in and out of the pocket.

He’s almost assuredly the starter heading into the summer. All eyes will be tuned in to see how he does.

Antwane Wells Jr.

Wells is the newcomer receiving most of the praise from his teammates this spring. Most guys gush about his competitiveness and playmaking ability and he gets to show it Saturday night.

The receiver was a record-setter at James Madison and from his teammates’ accounts has the skill and work ethic to play at the SEC level. Seeing how he performs for his first time in front of this fan base, will be interesting.

If he can make a few explosive plays, especially from Spencer Rattler, it could excite a lot of people heading into the Gamecocks’ summer.

MarShawn Lloyd

Most folks understand what Lloyd can do, but this is really the first time Lloyd has to show how far he’s come from his ACL injury.

He was obviously hampered, both physically and mentally, last season. has talked this spring about how comfortable he is now compared to in 2021.

This is Lloyd’s first spring game after being limited last season. He’s the likely top two guy heading into the offseason, and potentially the starter.

It’s less about how many yards he rushes for in South Carolina’s spring game. It’s more seeing how he cuts and if he can make guys miss in close proximity.

Xavier Legette

It feels odd to say someone who’s logged a bunch of snaps over his career as a player to watch. But this is a big spring and offseason for Legette. Justin Stepp opined about how well the receiver’s spring went, and Legette is chiseling out a role on the team.

The Gamecocks need someone to step up on the outside opposite Josh Vann, and Legette could be that guy.

He can take a big step towards that with a solid spring game and making a few big plays.

Braden Davis

Davis likely won’t be the No. 2 quarterback entering the offseason, but Shane Beamer mentioned a few good plays from the true freshman already this spring.

He’s apparently had two long runs in consecutive scrimmages and has some athletic ability that could help him in his development.

It’ll be his first real kind of game action for South Carolina. And it’ll be interesting to see how he performs and if his mobility is something that can play in a game-like atmosphere.
