When South Carolina kicks its season off Saturday night, it will be in front of a sold out crowd.

The Gamecocks officially announced the opening game against Georgia State will be a sell out.

Williams-Brice has an announced capacity of 77,559 after renovations a few years ago and all of those will likely be filled as the Gamecocks kick off a much-anticipated 2022 season.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN Plus.

It’s the start of a big year in Shane Beamer’s second season with plenty of hype and anticipation swirling around not only this team but also the first game as a whole.

Saturday is the first chance fans get to see South Carolina’s new look offense, headlined by Spencer Rattler.

South Carolina is also unveiling its new LED lights and ribbon boards, upgrades to the stadium this offseason.

The Gamecocks are also retiring Jadeveon Clowney’s jersey at halftime of the game.

“This is an unbelievable college town. To be able to get out and experience what a college town is like on a Saturday leading into a Saturday night in Columbia. It’s pretty special and a great opportunity,” Beamer said.

“It’s about relationships but certainly recruits see and watch that Gamecock Walk when we arrive. The bigger and more electric and loud and wild and crazy that is the more of an impact that makes on these guys.”

South Carolina is also hosting a horde of visitors for the game as well.

“When the coaches get to the stadium on Saturday the players are getting dressed and all that, but we as coaches, the first hour before we go to pregame is spent doing nothing but visiting with recruits,” Beamer said.

“I have a locker room office there at the stadium. All I do in there is recruits come in and out and I visit with them and talk. And get to see them for pregame and after the game as well. A lot goes into it and we just be ourselves.”
