South Carolina Recruiting Notebook: Official visits set, Four-star EDGE visits
While there hasn’t been any massive South Carolina football recruiting news in the last 24 hours or so, there have been several happenings worth noting, including a couple of new official visits to note, a new 2023 OL offer, and a big-time prospect on campus on Monday.
Cameron Upshaw sets South Carolina football official visit
South Carolina has been a major player for Perry (Fla.) Taylor County class of 2023 three-star safety Cameron Upshaw since he visited the Gamecocks toward the beginning of the year and gave that trip rave reviews.
Upshaw has now set his official visit to South Carolina, announcing Monday that he’ll be in Columbia the weekend of June 10.
While this is the first OV that Upshaw has scheduled, it’s a safe bet that Florida State will likely get one too as the Gamecocks and FSU appear to be the two schools he’s liked the most.
Last month, Upshaw released a Top 14 that included those two schools plus Arkansas, Cincinnati, Florida A&M, Iowa, Louisville, Maryland, Mississippi State, Michigan State, Nebraska, Penn State, Virginia and West Virginia.
Gamecocks make Top 4 for four-star WR Jaden Greathouse
Austin (Texas) Westlake High four-star wide receiver Jaden Greathouse narrowed his list to four schools on Sunday — Notre Dame, Texas, South Carolina and Oklahoma.
Gamecock wide receivers coach Justin Stepp pulled Landon Samson out of the Lonestar State during the last cycle and was able to get Greathouse to Columbia for an unofficial visit this spring.
“Coach Beamer has been recruiting me for a long time and he’s been the same guy through and through,” Greathouse told On3’s Hayes Fawcett this weekend. “Same goes with the coaching staff. They are an up and coming program and building something special.”
Greathouse will get a more complete look at the South Carolina football program on the weekend of June 10 when he takes an official visit, according to 247Sports’ Steve Wiltfong.
