It took a while for South Carolina signee Zach Davis to crack the On3 top 150, but he’ll ultimately end as a top 140 player in the class.

The Gamecocks’ enrolling guard moved up eight spots in On3’s latest and last 2022 rankings, up to No. 139 in the class.

Davis is considered the No. 2 player in South Carolina for his class and the No. 20 senior point guard in the country.

He’s coming off a prolific senior year where he averaged 24.2 points, 8.2 assists and 9.3 rebounds per game this season for Denmark-Olar.

According to MaxPreps, Davis shot 78 percent from the field and 67 percent from the free-throw line.

“I feel like I’m a great passer and great defender. At 6-foot-8 with my length, the way I move and the way I can dribble the ball I feel like the system fits me and I fit the system,” Davis told GamecockCentral in November. “I feel like I can fit passing lanes well, can get my teammates open and can knock down shots.”

The 6-foot-8 point guard originally committed and signed to play for Frank Martin and his staff. But he reaffirmed his commitment to South Carolina recently since Lamont Paris took over.

Davis held a signing ceremony soon after Paris took the job at his high school, confirming his plans to enroll with his home state school.

He’s still incredibly young. The previous staff thought he could develop into a really good player once he enrolls at South Carolina.

“Zach is a special talent. He’s every bit of 6-foot-8, has a passing eye that’s special. He passes that ball unbelievably. He’s a good shooter that will work at shooting the ball, plays for his dad. His dad coaches him hard,” Frank Martin said when Davis signed.

“Not on game days but every day. I think defensively and offensively Zach has a chance to be a star because he has a beautiful smile, a great personality and a great family. He knows how to play. There aren’t too many 6-foot-8 guys who play with the skill level he plays with.”

Davis is joined in the 2022 class by North Carolina win Daniel Hankins-Sanford. South Carolina will also enroll three transfers at the moment: The Citadel’s Hayden Brown, Coastal Carolina’s Ebrima Dibba and Ohio State’s Meechie Johnson Jr.

The Gamecocks still have three available scholarships for next year’s roster.
