South Carolina softball slugger earns SEC Player of the Week honor

On Monday, the SEC announced that South Carolina softball slugger Arianna Rodi was the co-Player of the Week in the conference. The honor comes on the heels of a huge week for the Gamecocks, one that wouldn’t have been possible without Rodi’s efforts.
In four games (one on the road against her former team, the Charlotte 49ers, and three on the road against a top-10 Duke Blue Devils squad), Rodi went 8-for-13 with four home runs, two doubles, six runs scored, 12 RBI, and three walks. She hit a home run and drove in three runs in all four games last week.
Rodi also led her South Carolina team to a perfect 4-0 record. USC now ranks inside the top 10 in some major softball rankings. Following a mid-week contest against Youngstown State, Rodi and the Gamecocks will take on the country’s only other undefeated squad–the four-time reigning national championship-winning Oklahoma Sooners–in a three-game weekend series.

Rodi, who spent the first two years of her collegiate career at Charlotte alongside Ashley Chastain Woodard, has transitioned seamlessly into her role as a middle-of-the-order bat with the Gamecocks. Last season, she picked up all-conference honors in the American, and if she keeps it up, she could be on her way to doing the same in the SEC in 2025.
On the season, Rodi is hitting for a robust .429/.583/.1.000/1.583 slash line. She has eight home runs, four doubles, 21 walks, 26 RBI, and 20 runs scored this season. She’s also reached base in every game but one this year.
Gamecock pitcher Jori Heard earned SEC Pitcher of the Week selection last week.
