South Carolina softball lands commitment from All-State infielder
Ashley Chastain and the South Carolina softball team’s momentum continues.
One of the state’s top prospects, Fort Mill (S.C.) Catawba Ridge infielder Audrey Wilson, announced her her pledge to South Carolina on Saturday evening.
Wilson visited campus this weekend and made her commitment official shortly afterward.

Wilson played a pivotal role in Catawba Ridge’s trip to a state title in her senior season. According to The Herald, she hit .506 with seven home runs and 42 RBIs and earned All-State honors. Wilson went 4-7 with 4 RBIs in Catawba Ridge’s two-game sweep over West Florence in the 4A state finals.
The South Carolina softball team has brought in numerous players from the transfer portal, including a trio from UNC Charlotte, where Chastain coached before joining the Gamecocks, this offseason. In the weeks since Chastain’s hire, Arianna Rodi, Sam Gress and Lexi Winters have followed their former head coach to Columbia.
RHP Nealy Lamb (Charleston Southern) and UTL Quincee Lilio (Oklahoma) have also committed to the program via the portal.

Wilson was at one time committed to Charlotte as well but chose the Gamecocks over a push from Duke.

ICYMI: Softball Insider: Staff hits the ground recruiting

New South Carolina head coach Ashley Chastain and her staff have hit the ground running so to speak since being hired and there hasn’t been a day that’s gone by that the staff hasn’t been doing some type of recruiting.
That’s been a combination of in-home visits, assistant coaches on the road for eval purposes, and on-campus visits for most of the last couple of weeks.
The next week or so South Carolina will be well-represented as it heads out to Colorado which is home to the biggest summer tournaments of the year on the prospect circuit.
