South Carolina softball fell for the first time this season on Friday night 9-10 to the nation’s other undefeated team, the Oklahoma Sooners. In what was a highly-competitive ball game, the Gamecocks showed they are equipped to battle with the very best. However, they will have to wait a little longer than expected to try to even the series.

Originally slated for a traditional Friday-Saturday-Sunday series, South Carolina-Oklahoma has undergone a scheduling change. Because of a cold, rainy forecast in Norman on Saturday, the Gamecocks and Sooners will now play a doubleheader on Sunday afternoon. With a high in the 40s and a 95% chance for rain Saturday and a clear Sunday expected, the change was an easy one to make.

Game one of the doubleheader will begin at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. Fans can tune in to watch the contest on SEC Network or stream it on the ESPN app. Then, the series finale and second leg of the two-part Sunday showdown will begin about 40 minutes after the conclusion of the 2:30 game. That means the series’ final game should start between 5:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. barring extra innings or other delays. That matchup will not air on traditional television, but it will stream on SEC Network+.

South Carolina softball is now 20-1 on the 2025 season. Ranked as high as No. 9 in some polls, the Gamecocks will need to pull off at least one victory on Sunday to remain in such a prominent spot in the polls. Thanks to their Friday evening win, Oklahoma has moved to 20-0. However, USC was the Sooners’ first opponent to play them to a one-run game so far this year.
