Ashley Chastain Woodard’s South Carolina softball team had a big week. Following a shutout rivalry win over the Clemson Tigers in the mid-week, the Gamecocks traveled to Baton Rouge, Louisiana for a three-game date with the LSU Tigers. USC took the series against their top-5 SEC foe with a doubleheader sweep on Sunday.

The big series win moved Carolina to an overall record of 27-7 and 4-5 in the SEC. It also marked the third series in a row (all against top-15 teams) that USC has won.

South Carolina is now a unanimous top-10 team in the country. This is the first time all year that the four major college softball polls all have included the Gamecocks among their 10 best teams in America.

D1Softball ranked the Gamecocks No. 6 in their updated top-25. The movement up pushed Carolina four spots ahead of their ranking from a week ago.

Softball America also bumped up USC in their latest updated ranking. This week, the garnet and black occupy the No. 7 spot, marking a three-spot improvement following their big series win over LSU.

The ESPN.com and USA Softball ranking put South Carolina 9th in this week’s poll. Last week, the Gamecocks were two spots lower at No. 11.

The USA Today/NFCA rankings slotted South Carolina softball into their No. 10 spot. The poll was the only one of the four major polls that did not move the Gamecocks up after last week.

South Carolina and Ole Miss will start their series at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. It is the only game of the series not on television; however, it will stream on SEC Network+.

Saturday’s game two has its first pitch scheduled for Noon. SEC Network will handle the broadcast, and the ESPN app will stream it.

The series finale on Sunday will begin at 3:00 p.m. Game three also will broadcast on SEC Network and stream on the ESPN app.
