Friday evening was a rainy one in Columbia. Because of the rain, the South Carolina baseball team had its game against Florida postponed by several hours. Then, the South Carolina softball team had its game against Alabama suspended after two innings of play. The Gamecocks led 3-0 at the time of the suspension because of a Lexi Winters three-run home run.

According to an announcement from USC, the game will resume on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. Anyone with tickets to Friday’s game two (game one was on Thursday) will have them honored on Saturday morning. The series finale will begin about 30 minutes following the final out of game two. That game will be a separately ticketed event. Both the resumed game on Saturday morning and the finale in the afternoon will broadcast on SEC Network.

Following a loss in Thursday’s opener, South Carolina will need two wins on Saturday to take the series against a top-20 Alabama team. A series win also would keep the Gamecocks above .500 in SEC play and in real contention for a national host seed in this year’s NCAA Tournament.
