South Carolina softball pitching duo to hit NCAA transfer portal

South Carolina softball pitching duo Kadie Becker and Olivia Kotowski have entered the transfer portal. Both right-handed pitchers announced the news on social media.

Becker transferred to South Carolina this offseason from Charlotte, where she also played for head coach Ashley Chastain Woodard. Becker got some action this season as the fourth pitcher on a team that had a clear top three. In 12 total appearances, the sophomore logged a 2-0 record but registered a 6.38 ERA and 2.14 WHIP. Becker had a 5-11 K-BB ratio in 18.2 innings pitched. She will have two years left to play.

Kotowski took the circle just five times as a true freshman. The Georgia native didn’t register a decision in those five appearances. Kotowski logged a strong 3.15 ERA in limited innings but surrendered base runners at a high clip en route to a 2.42 WHIP. She owned a 1-5 K-BB ratio in 6.2 innings pitched. Kotowski has three more years of eligibility remaining.

Becker and Kotowski join catcher Guilia Desiderio, outfielder Marissa “Rabbit” Gonzalez, and outfielder Bre Warren (players who weren’t on the active roster in 2025) as South Carolina softball players hitting the portal.

The NCAA transfer portal window for softball opened on May 18th and will remain open until June 16th. Graduate students, though, can enter the portal at any time.

Appeared in 12 games with one start … Recorded a 4.02 ERA with a 1-1 record, striking out nine batters in 15.2 innings … Got four outs with one unearned run in a relief appearance vs. Memphis (March 15) … Pitched a scoreless seventh to close out a win at Longwood (April 2) … Pitched two scoreless frames with a couple strikeouts against UTSA to earn her first career win (April 12) … Followed up with two frames the next day against UTSA, striking out two (April 13) … Pitched a pair of shutout innings in relief with two punchouts at UAB (April 27) … Had a scoreless seventh inning in the NCAA Regionals against UNC Wilmington (May 18) … From April 2 on, posted a 1.85 ERA in 11.1 innings with an 8/2 K/BB ratio.

Four-time all-conference selection at South Caldwell High School … Three-time NWC Pitcher of the Year … Recorded a 1.62 ERA as a senior in 2023 … Tabbed as the 2021 NCSCA 4A Pitcher of the Year, posting a 1.42 ERA … Three-time all-state and all-district selection … Earned a 4.5 GPA in the classroom.
