South Carolina softball cancels mid-week contest against Winthrop

South Carolina softball was scheduled to take on the in-state Winthrop Eagles on Wednesday night at Beckham Field in Columbia. However, that game will not happen. Because of the threat of inclement weather in the Midlands on Wednesday, USC and Winthrop have agreed not to play. The two teams will not reschedule the contest for a later date, either.
The cancelation ends the Gamecocks’ four-week streak of playing mid-week opponents from the Palmetto State.

With the change, South Carolina will play again this weekend against the Auburn Tigers. The road series will run from Friday to Sunday. On Friday night, South Carolina and Auburn will begin their series at 6:00 p.m. Then, Saturday’s game two will start at 3:00 p.m. First pitch for the series finale on Sunday will be at 2:00 p.m. None of the Auburn series will be on traditional television, but SEC Network+ will make the action available to fans via streaming.
South Carolina softball is 35-11 overall on the season and 10-8 in conference play. The top-15 Gamecocks are in line for an NCAA host spot and, if they continue playing well, could be a top-8 national seed and host a Super Regional, as well.
