South Carolina tops off WR class with huge commitment from local four-star Donovan Murph
One of the top wide receiver classes in South Carolina football history has added another member.
Irmo (S.C.) class of 2025 four-star wide receiver Donovan Murph announced his commitment during the Under Armour All-America game Thursday, choosing the Gamecocks over finalists Clemson, Colorado, Ole Miss, and Tennessee.
“It feels like home,” Murph told On3’s Chad Simmons. “Everybody shows me love. The whole staff shows me love. It’s not just one coach. One would think that I go there and only the receivers coach is showing me love. But I know everybody up there, the quarterbacks coach – Mike Shula – who just got hired, coach Beamer, coach Gray and coach Lucas. All of those coaches, they show me so much love and it feels like a family. I could definitely see myself there with a staff like that. I know everybody and I can go talk to anybody about anything. They’re not going to lie to me.”
The 6-foot-2, 190-pounder was originally in the 2026 class but reclassified to 2025 and took official visits to South Carolina and Clemson before choosing the Gamecocks. Despite not being one of his listed finalists, Alabama was heavily involved in the process too.

Murph was recruited to the Gamecocks by first-year receivers coach Mike Furrey, who was instrumental in building the talented class of wide receivers.
“The couple of months that he’s been there, what stands out about him is just the type of person he is,” Murph told GamecockCentral. “He’s a great coach from a developmental standpoint but he’s a great person as well. He just continues to talk to me about more things that’s not about football. It’s about more, it’s about life, you know, it’s about, how can how can I use football to better myself as a young man.”
