South Carolina tweaking rotation again against top-ranked LSU

South Carolina is once again tweaking its starting rotation, this time because of injury.
South Carolina did not have Noah Hall listed in its announced rotation. The right-hander is currently dealing with a back injury.

Will Sanders returns to the rotation after a week off against Mississippi State, squaring off against Paul Skenes Thursday night at Founders Park.
The Gamecocks are expected to start Jack Mahoney in Friday’s game two, moving him up a day in his preparation, then going TBA Saturday.
A lot of that will depend on who pitches Thursday and Friday, but Eli Jones started last weekend against the Bulldogs. James Hicks, Matthew Becker and Eli Jerzembeck have all also started games for South Carolina this season.

Hall didn’t make it out of the third inning in Starkville, going just 2.2 innings and allowing nine hits and five runs.
This season he’s been South Carolina’s best starter, sporting a 3.29 ERA and .241 batting average against. He leads the team as of right now in strikeouts (43) with just nine walks. H’es allowed just 38 hits in 41 innings, 12 for extra bases.
South Carolina plays LSU this weekend and will have two more series in two weeks against top five teams: at Vanderbilt then at home against Florida.

Time will tell how Hall progresses and if he’ll be ready for next weekend in Nashville.
The Gamecocks host No. 1 LSU this weekend with first pitch Thursday and Friday scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday’s game three is scheduled for noon.
Weather, though, could be a determining factor. There is rain projected in the forecast starting Friday morning and running throughout the weekend.
Sanders returns to the rotation after getting a rest against Mississippi State after a tough start to the season. He has a 5.17 ERA in 31.1 innings (six starts) with a .248 batting average against.

In a pair of SEC starts Sanders has allowed nine runs, all earned, with 11 strikeouts and seven walks in 10.1 innings.
He’ll go against Skenes, who is the frontrunner for SEC pitcher of the year for the Tigers.
Skenes ratchets his fastball up to 102 miles per hour and has been elite this year. In seven starts (44.1 innings), he has a 0.81 ERA and 83 strikeouts to just eight walks.
