Class of 2024 post Blanca Thomas announced her finalists and South Carolina made the cut.

According to HoopGurlz, Thomas is the tenth-ranked overall prospect and top-ranked post in her class. She announced her top ten on social media Monday. Her finalists are North Carolina, NC State, Virginia Tech, Michigan, Tennessee, Louisville, Notre Dame, Stanford, South Carolina, and Duke.

Thomas became the first 2024 target for the Gamecocks to narrow down a list of finalists. More could come in the next month or so as many players like to control the amount of time spent on their recruitment during the school year (others set designated windows when they will communicate with college coaches).

Thomas plays for Charlotte Catholic High School in Charlotte, NC. She is one of two Charlotte-area frontcourt players getting a lot of attention from the Gamecocks, along with forward Ella Hobbs. At 6-5, Thomas is a traditional post who excels in the paint. She is slender and will need to get stronger to play inside in college, but that will come with a collegiate weight program.

South Carolina is heavily recruiting frontcourt players in the next two classes. The Gamecocks will lose captain Victaria Saxton after this season, and likely lose Aliyah Boston and Laeticia Amihere. In addition, Kamilla Cardoso will be eligible for the 2023 WNBA draft and could leave after this season.
