In the spirit of the season, here are 12 things on the Gamecocks and FAMs have on their wish list.
1 Seed
South Carolina’s stranglehold on the no. 1 ranking in the AP poll ended with the loss to UCLA, but that isn’t the number 1 that matters. Being a 1 seed in the NCAA tournament is. Being the top overall seed may also be necessary to guarantee a trip to Birmingham instead of Spokane for the regionals.
2 Straight national championships
I can’t think of anything else that the Gamecocks have not accomplished. They have national championships, SEC championships, an undefeated season, players of the year, the list goes on. The only thing left is consecutive championships.
3 More Blocks
South Carolina is averaging 5.6 blocks per game this season. It’s the lowest average since 2017 when South Carolina also averaged 5.6 blocks. That’s down about three blocks per game from 2020 (8.6) and 2023 (8.8) when South Carolina set and then broke the NCAA record for most blocks per game. There have been several games in which the Gamecocks have missed that kind of rim protection.
4 Quarters
The Gamecocks’ biggest challenge this season has been putting together a complete game from opening tip to final horn.
5 Straight Final Fours
A fifth straight Final Four would tie LSU for the SEC record for consecutive Final Fours. It would also join LSU, Notre Dame, and Stanford for the second-most consecutive Final Fours in NCAA history.
(Should be) 6
Although it should be six. South Carolina made the Final Four in 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024, and we all know they would have made it in 2020.

7 Home Wins
South Carolina has won 63 consecutive home games. Seven more would take the streak to 70 and give South Carolina the fourth-longest streak in NCAA history

8 Joyce Edwards
Between all the accolades, the recruiting battle, and her two preseason games, expectations for Edwards were probably too high to start the season. But she isn’t far off. Edwards seems to get better with every game and it will be fun to see how good she is by the end of the season.
9 SEC Titles
The Gamecocks have won eight SEC regular season and eight SEC tournament championships. They doubled up in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2020, 2023, and 2024. They won the regular season title only in 2014 and 2022. In 2018 and 2021 they won the tournament tile only. They trail only Tennessee in both categories.
10 Days in the Spring
The Sweet 16 begins on March 28 and the national championship is on April 6. That’s a 10-day span that will determine how this season is remembered.
11 Consecutive Sweet Sixteens
South Carolina hasn’t missed the second weekend of the NCAA tournament since 2013. Who can even remember that far back?
12 MiLaysia Fulwiley
Fulwiley is South Carolina’s most explosive player and perhaps the most talented of an incredibly talented group. The narrative going into the season had her poised for an all-American level season, but it seems like she has put too much pressure on herself to be great. There is still time for her to become that player.
