2023 post Aalyah Del Rosario announced her four finalists. South Carolina, Tennessee, North Carolina, and LSU all made the cut.

Del Rosario is a 6-6 post who is ranked eighth overall in the 2023 class. She is the second-ranked post. South Carolina offered Del Rosario in July, 2020. Del Rosario is a traditional post player who is big and strong but athletic enough to play in space. She won a gold medal with the USA Basketball U18 team earlier this summer.

Del Rosario attends The Webb School in Bell Buckle, Tennessee. She was born in Texas but raised in the Dominican Republic. She returned to the United States to attend high school in New Jersey, only to have her school close. Del Rosario then transferred to The Webb School, although she still trains in Connecticut during the offseason.

Del Rosario visited South Carolina in the summer of 2022 and visited Tennessee a few weeks later. She has also visited NC State and North Carolina. Del Rosario is a priority for the Gamecocks as a replacement for Aliyah Boston: Dawn Staley and assistant coach Fred Chmiel (who coaches posts) have gone to great lengths to attend her games. Del Rosario has also been mentored by former Gamecock and New Jersey native La’Keisha Sutton.

South Carolina does not have any commitments for the 2023 class. Other top priorities include Columbia guard Milaysia Fulwiley, Mississippi wing Madison Booker, Florida forward Chloe Kitts, and California guard Judea Watkins. South Carolina is a finalist for Booker and Kitts, and Fulwiley is going to announce her finalists soon.

The Gamecocks need to replace Boston, Brea Beal, Zia Coke, Laeticia Amihere, and Olivia Thompson. They made up the 2019 recruiting class, the best in program history, although all have the option of returning for a Covid super senior season. They also lose Victaria Saxton and Kierra Fletcher.

Although South Carolina wants to sign a post to replace Boston, it already has one potential replacement on the roster. 6-7 Kamilla Cardoso was first-team All-ACC and the Freshman and Defensive Player of the Year during her rookie season at Syracuse. She didn’t have the same impact last season because she was backing up Boston, but she is more than capable of stepping into the starting lineup.
