Agot Makeer and Ayla McDowell, the two members of South Carolina’s 2025 signing class, played in the Nike Hoop Summit game on Saturday night.

Although both were born in the United States, they will play for the World team. Makeer lived in Canada for most of her life. She has dual citizenship and competes internationally for Canada. McDowell’s mother is from Brazil, which allows her to compete internationally for Brazil.

Team USA beat Team World 90-78.

Makeer was a starter for the World team. She was used as a defensive specialist against Aaliyah Chavez, the top-ranked recruit who is an elite scorer. Unofficially, Makeer only gave up three points to Chavez. She got it back a few possessions later when she nailed a spot up three.

Makeer finished with five points, three rebounds, two steals, and a block. On the offensive end, she struggled against the stronger opponents.

McDowell came off the bench but was one of the stars of the game. She led Team World with 15 points and was the second-leading scorer in the game. McDowell had four rebounds, an assist, and a steal. She went 4-4 from the foul line and was 5-7 from the floor, including 1-2 from three.

McDowell briefly left the game after another player landed on her while they were chasing a loose ball. She shook off the pain and returned in the fourth quarter.

One of the interesting aspects of the Nike Hoop Summit is that the players are measured beyond just the usual estimated height.

Makeer was measured at 6-1.5 tall, 131.1 pounds, an 8-0 standing reach, with 6-3.75 wingspan. Makeer is the lightest player on the world team.

McDowell was measured at 6-2, 165.8 pounds, with an 8-0 standing reach, and 6-2.25 wingspan.

Last year, Joyce Edwards led USA to a dramatic come-from-behind 83-80 win over the World team. She finished with 25 points and nine rebounds, both Nike Hoop Summit records, and tied for the team lead with two assists.

The game was played at the Moda Center in Portland. The Moda Center is home to the NBA’s Portland Trail Blazers and a WNBA expansion team that will begin play in 2026. It will also host the 2028 NCAA tournament regionals and the 2030 women’s Final Four.
