On Tuesday, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that former South Carolina women’s basketball star A’ja Wilson was signing a big-money shoe deal with Nike. According to Charania, Wilson’s deal will be for six years and will be one of the richest ever for a women’s basketball player. Already with Nike, Wilson’s deal is an extension with the company. Charania’s report did not include specific dollar amounts.
The report follows the spring news that Wilson finally was getting her signature shoe deal with Nike. The “A’One” signature shoe will drop sometime in 2025 along with the rest of her collection.

The shoe deal is well-deserved for Wilson. The former Gamecock won her third MVP award this season, she picked up another Olympic gold medal during the summer, and she set a number of WNBA records, including the all-time single-season marks for points scored and rebounds. The Columbia, South Carolina native is the best player in the world.
During her South Carolina women’s basketball career, Wilson was one of the best college players ever. She won a National Championship in the 2016-2017 season and then followed that up with virtually every National Player of the Year honor in 2017-2018. Wilson owns the Gamecocks records for points scored, blocked shots, and free throws made. She will have her USC jersey retired during a ceremony in February.
