South Carolina women’s basketball legends A’ja Wilson and Aliyah Boston put on a show on Thursday night. The two most accomplished Gamecocks ever went head-to-head in the WNBA as the Indiana Fever hosted the Las Vegas Aces. The clash of WNBA All-Stars wasn’t an overly competitive contest as Wilson’s supporting cast shot 7-for-43 from the field, but the one-on-one matchup between the USC alums was entertaining all night.

In a contest that the Fever won 81-54, Boston recorded 20 points and seven rebounds. She also shot an extremely efficient 9-for-13. Boston and fellow post player Natasha Howard helped keep Wilson off the glass, limiting her to just three rebounds. Though Wilson got her points, Boston made things very difficult for her.

Wilson, as usual, was incredible. Scoring 29 points on 9-for-18 shooting and 11-for-13 from the stripe, she was the only semblance of offense for Vegas. At one point, Wilson had 25 of the Aces’ 36 points, and she finished with 29 in just 26 minutes, a far cry above the combined 25 points in 174 minutes for the rest of her team.

Naturally, as it seems like she does on a weekly basis, Wilson made WNBA history. With her nightly box score-stuffing, she tied the fastest-ever start to a season with 300 points, 100 rebounds, and 50 assists. Wilson is coming off of another WNBA Western Conference Player of the Week honor (she is now tied with Elena Delle Donne for the third-most conference player of the week awards ever), and she is well on her way to another.

In two weeks, Wilson and Boston will take the floor again. However, there is a chance that they will be teammates. Both players earned WNBA All-Star Game starter designations, but team captains Napheesa Collier and Caitlin Clark won’t pick the teams until July 8th. (Fellow South Carolina alum Allisha Gray is also a starter.) The July 19th exhibition will broadcast on ABC and stream on ESPN+ at 8:30 p.m.
