This week, former Gamecock Aliyah Boston was honored during her Boston, Massachusetts, homecoming.

In a ceremony at the Massachusetts Statehouse, July 14 was declared Aliyah Boston Day in the city of Boston. Boston was presented with a state proclamation recognizing “the pride, power, and purpose you bring to the Commonwealth.”

Boston’s Indiana Fever were in Boston to play the Connecticut Sun. For the past two seasons, the Sun have played a home game at TD Garden in Boston.

It was a homecoming for Boston. She was born in the Virgin Islands but moved to the Boston area to live with her aunt and further her basketball career. Boston excelled at Worcester Academy, where she was a three-time state Gatorade Player of the Year.

On Monday, Boston also announced that she is joining the investor group for Boston Legacy FC, a professional women’s soccer team.

Boston Legacy FC will be the 15th team in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) and begin play in 2026.

“I’m proud to join the ownership group of the Boston Legacy,” said Boston in a statement. “This city helped raise me, and the support I felt here shaped so much of who I am. I couldn’t be more excited to have the opportunity to invest into a franchise that’s building something special for its players, for the city, and for women’s sports as a whole. And yes…Boston repping Boston just felt right!”

Boston capped her homecoming by netting 11 points, six rebounds, and four assists in Indiana’s 85-77 win over Connecticut on Tuesday night.
