Aliyah Boston tied the school record for double-doubles and South Carolina rolled over Vanderbilt 96-48.

Boston was named the SEC player of the week after back-to-back 20-point, 10-rebounds last week. She barely let up against the undersized, depleted Commodores. Boston was a perfect 8-8 from the field and finished with 16 points, 10 rebounds, three blocks, and two assists in just 22 minutes of action.

She took a seat moments after grabbing her teeth rebound, which gave Boston her 72nd career double-double. That tied the great Sheila Foster for the school record.

South Carolina has dealt with some slow starts on the road, but wasted little time pulling away from Vanderbilt. The Gamecocks trailed 9-8 midway through the first quarter, and then went on an 18-0 run that lasted nearly ten minutes.

South Carolina’s defense was smothering as always, and the Gamecocks used their size and depth to pull away offensively. Eleven Gamecocks played in the first half and all twelve available players saw action.

Eleven players scored, and ten players had at least six points. That’s more players than Vanderbilt has on the roster. South Carolina’s bench scored 41 points, nearly equally the Commodores.

South Carolina shot 61.9% from the floor, the second time in three games the Gamecocks have shot over 60%. Zia Cooke scored 11 of her game-high 17 points in the third quarter. Kamilla Cardoso notched her third double-double of the season with 10 points and 15 rebounds.

The Gamecocks held the Commodores to just 30% shooting, got 17 points off 13 turnovers, blocked 14 shots, and outrebounded Vanderbilt 49-23. South Carolina had 60 points in the paint.
