South Carolina women’s basketball coach Dawn Staley didn’t panic following her team’s consecutive Sunday losses. Instead, she challenged the team to “play a resemblance of who we are” as a unit. The Gamecocks then answered her call, bouncing back with two lopsided wins in SEC play over Arkansas and Vanderbilt.

After the victories, Carolina is 25-3 overall and 13-1 in conference play. The Texas Longhorns play Georgia on Monday night to determine if USC and UT remain tied at the top of the SEC.

During the recent rough patch, South Carolina slid down from No. 2 in the Associated Press’ top 25 to No. 6. The losses to UConn and Texas weren’t resume-killers, but the defeats have allowed several teams to catch up to the Gamecocks’ pace at the top of the NET resume rankings. When the AP updated their top-25 rankings on Monday, USC featured at No. 6 once again. Texas took over the top spot following Notre Dame’s loss last week.

You can see the entire AP top 25 rankings below (first-place votes also in parentheses):

This week, South Carolina has its final two SEC games on the schedule, one at home and one on the road.

First, the Gamecocks will play their second road contest in a row when they travel over to Oxford, Mississippi for a date with Yolett McPhee-McCuin’s Ole Miss Rebels squad. Spending most of the season ranked at the back end of the top 25 or in the “others receiving votes” section of the poll, Ole Miss enters the contest 18-8 overall and 9-5 in SEC play. The Gamecocks and Rebels will tip off at 9:00 p.m. on Thursday. ESPN will broadcast the game, and the ESPN app will stream the contest.

Then, over the weekend, the Gamecocks play a huge contest against the Kentucky Wildcats. In what will be Senior Day for USC, first-year UK coach Kenny Brooks’ squad will be fighting to hold onto one of the SEC Tournament’s double-bye, top-4 slots. Now ranked inside the AP’s top 20 at No. 15, the ‘Cats have featured as high as the No. 8 overall team in the country. ESPN will air the regular season finale at 2:00 p.m., while the ESPN app streams it.
