Former Gamecock teammates Kamilla Cardoso and Aliyah Boston each scored career-highs on Tuesday night.

Cardoso, the 2024 NCAA Tournament MOP, got the night started with 27 points in Chicago’s 87-86 win over Los Angeles. She shot 10-15 from the floor and 6-8 from the line and added seven rebounds, three assists, and two blocks.

Cardoso also made her first WNBA three-pointer in the third quarter. She is now undefeated in college and the pros when she makes a three (2-0).

Cardoso scored her previous career-high of 23 on May 28 against Dallas.  It has been an inconsistent season since then, as the Sky has struggled to figure out an identity. Cardoso has started to find a groove recently and has scored in double figures in four of her last five games. She is averaging 15.8 points and 6.4 rebounds over that span.

Cardoso will miss the next two weeks to play in the 2025 FIBA AmeriCup with Brazil. She was the MVP in 2023 for leading Brazil to the gold medal. At the time, her GAmecock teammates jokingly dubbed her “FIBA Kamilla” because of how well she played.

In the late game, Boston, the 2022 NCAA Tournament MOP, managed to outdo Cardoso by scoring 31 points on 13-18 shooting and 5-6 from the line. She also had eight rebounds, three assists, and two steals, but missed her only three.

Boston’s previous career high was 30 points, set last season against Atlanta. Like Cardoso, Boston is on a recent tear. She had 26 points in a duel against A’ja Wilson on Sunday and is averaging 24.7 points and 10.0 rebounds over the last three games.

Boston and Cardoso were the top two scorers across the league on Tuesday night. Boston also leads the WNBA in field goal percentage at 60.3%.

Indiana’s next game is on Thursday against Los Angeles. Cardoso will next take the court on Saturday at the AmeriCup in Chile.
