South Carolina women's basketball: Catching up with the Gamecocks at AmeriCup

The group stage at the 2025 AmeriCup women’s tournament concluded on Wednesday, and two Gamecocks have been stars for their teams.
Both Team USA and Brazil went undefeated in the group stage
Joyce Edwards started all four games and leads Team USA in scoring at 13.5 points, fifth overall at the tournament. She’s also averaging 5.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.8 steals.
Kamilla Cardoso is averaging 11.8 points, 10th overall at the tournament. Cardoso is also averaging 9.0 rebounds, good for third in the tournament, and a tournament-leading 2.3 blocks per game.
Incoming South Carolina freshman has only played in two games for Brazil. As one of the youngest players on the team, she has only played in blowouts. McDowell is averaging 4.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 2.0 steals. She is 1-6 from three and 6-12 from the foul line.
