South Carolina got its third commitment of the fall when Chloe Kitts announced her decision.
Kitts is a 6-2 forward from DME Academy in Daytona Beach, FL. She is ranked 17th overall in the class of 2023 by HoopGurlz. She visited South Carolina the weekend of September 24. Kitts picked South Carolina over finalists Arizona, Duke, Louisville, NC State, and Oklahoma.
Without any warning, Kitts announced her decision on social media Friday afternoon. She doubled down on the surprises by adding that she will forgo her senior season and enroll early.

Kitts was impressive on the all-star circuit this past summer. She excelled at filling in the cracks, finding rebounds and loose balls, getting open for jump shots, or slashing to the basket for layups. Although listed as a forward, Kitts is probably more of a wing thanks to her shooting ability.

Kitts joins Sahnya Jah and Tessa Johnson in South Carolina’s 2023 class. South Carolina’s three remaining targets are Malaysia Fulwiley, who is announcing her decision on November 10, Cassandre Prosper, and Judea Watkins. At this point it is unclear how Kitts enrolling early affects South Carolina’s recruiting plans.

Staley does not like to carry a full roster because it is hard to keep everyone happy, plus it is prudent to have a couple of available scholarships for the transfer portal. That suggests South Carolina will likely sign one or two more players, although they won’t turn away anyone.
South Carolina has between four and nine open scholarships for next year, depending on who among the seniors decides to use a covid year. Laeticia Amihere, Brea Beal, Aliyah Boston, Zia Cooke, and Olivia Thompson are seniors who have the option of returning for next season.
