Class of 2025 five-star guard Agot Makeer has officially signed with the South Carolina women’s basketball program after committing to the Gamecocks on the first day of March.

The 6-foot-1 wing is ranked the No. 4 overall prospect and No. 1 small forward in her class by the On3 Industry Ranking.

South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley provided her thoughts on Makeer via release on Thursday morning.

“We’re excited to bring Agot into our Gamecock family,” Staley said. “She brings size, speed and versatility to our guard unit with her ability to play multiple positions. Her ball handling and passing skills enhance her ability to score and spread the defense. Agot is super competitive, talented and has an unlimited ceiling.”

Makeer chose the Gamecocks over finalists UConn and Michigan State after previously also having Duke, North Carolina and Kentucky on her list.

The five-star prospect grew up in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada, and played her final season of high school basketball at Montverde Academy in Florida, where she averaged 10.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game on the way to a 25-1 regular-season record.

Makeer also led Canada to a silver medal at the FIBA U17 Women’s World Cup last summer. Her 17.7 points per game at the event led her team and ranked fourth in the tournament.

Makeer joins Ayla McDowell in the Gamecocks’ 2025 Signing Class. Staley has also added transfers Ta’Niya Latson and Madina Okot to the Gamecocks’ roster for the 2025-26 season.
