Offseason workouts are underway, including the first edition of the infamous “Final Four Fridays,” so the current players have been mostly occupied with basketball. The same can’t be said for their coach or former teammates.

On June 12, Governor Henry McMaster presented Dawn Staley with the Gamecock flag that flew over the State House following South Carolina’s national championship win.

Last weekend, Staley had an all-time great humblebrag. She complained on social media that she couldn’t watch Aliyah Boston and Kamilla Cardoso’s WNBA game, then casually dropped that she was in Italy for Milan Fashion Week. Staley attended the Gucci show, of course.

This past weekend, Staley was back in Paris for Paris Fashion Week, where she attended Vogue World, where the theme was a merging of fashion and sports. As part of the event, Nike gave Staley a gift for her dog Champ: a diamond dog collar with Staley’s signature logo on one side of the name tag, and Champ’s name on the other side.

It’s good to be the queen.

Also this past weekend, Nike unveiled the logo for A’ja Wilson’s signature shoe, which was announced back in May. It turns out, Wilson had been secretly wearing the logo as a necklace for weeks. Shirts with the logo are now on sale, but so far there are no diamond dog collars for A’ja’s dogs Ace and Deuce. You can read the story of the logo or buy apparel at ofcourseshehasashoe.com

Aliyah Boston and Victaria Saxton took advantage of the break in the WNBA schedule to pay a visit to former coach Fred Chmiel. They attended a Bowling Green practice and met with players.

Last week the Las Vegas Aces became the first team in WNBA history to sell out every home game of their season. I didn’t know they were only playing games against Caitlin Clark.
