South Carolina is off to the Sweet 16, even if it doesn’t have an opponent yet. Here’s what we know heading into the final day of the second round.

Who is missing?
Only half of the Birmingham Regional 2 is set.

#1 South Carolina will play the winner of the game between #5 Alabama and #4 Maryland. That game is at 5:00 pm ET on Monday, March 24.

South Carolina has won 23 straight games, most recently 76-58 in Tuscaloosa in January. The Gamecocks are 6-2 against the Terrapins and have won five straight, most recently 114-76 last season.

On the bottom half of the bracket, #2 Duke survived a scare from #10 Oregon to win 59-53. The Blue Devils await the winner of #3 North Carolina and #6 West Virginia. That game is at 7:00 pm ET on Monday.

Schedule
The Birmingham 2 Sweet 16 games are on Friday, March 28 at 2:30 and 5:00 pm ET. The Elite Eight game is on Sunday, March 30 at 1:00 pm ET. The teams will find out when they play after the second round is complete.

Sweet 16 media day is Thursday, March 27. Press conferences begin at noon ET, and the order is based on the games. We won’t know when South Carolina goes until the schedule is announced, but the Gamecocks should go at noon or 3:30.

The other Birmingham
The Birmingham Regional 3 is slightly more settled.

#2 TCU and #3 Notre Dame won their games on Saturday, both by double digits. TCU beat #7 Louisville 85-70. Notre Dame beat #6 Michigan 76-55.

The final piece will be settled on Monday at 2:00 pm ET when #1 Texas faces #8 Illinois. The winner will play #5 Tennessee. The Lady Vols outlasted #4 Ohio State 82-67 on Sunday night.

Those games are on Saturday/Monday.

The Magic City
The Gamecocks are not strangers to Birmingham, but it will still be a new experience. Dawn Staley said she has only been to Birmingham to go to the SEC offices or media days, but she has never explored the city.

The Birmingham area is a stop on the summer travel basketball circuit, but those games are played at the Finley Center in Hoover. Legacy Arena in downtown Birmingham will be a new experience for everyone.
