South Carolina women's basketball: Gamecocks add two more games to 2024-25 schedule

South Carolina’s 2024-25 schedule continues to take shape following Wednesday’s announcement that the Gamecocks will headline the Fort Myers Tip-Off multi-team event from November 28-30.
The Fort Myers Tip-Off is held at 3,500-seat Suncoast Credit Union Arena. Both Gamecock basketball programs will be in Fort Myers. The men’s team plays in the Beach Division from November 25-27. Michigan, Virginia Tech, and Xavier are also in the Beach Division.
The women’s team is part of the Island Division with Iowa State, Purdue, and Middle Tennessee State. South Carolina will play Iowa State on November 28 and Purdue on November 30.
It will be the second all-time meeting between the Gamecocks and the Cyclones. The Gamecocks beat the Cyclones 85-49 in Ames in 2020.
Iowa State lost in overtime in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, but forward Audi Crooks captured the nation’s attention with her 40-point outburst in a first-round win over Maryland. The Cyclones are ranked 10th in ESPN’s way-too-early top 25 and ninth in The Athletic’s rankings.
Purdue lost to Vermont in the Women’s NIT quarterfinals. The Boilermakers and Gamecocks last met for a home-and-home in 2019 and 2020, with the Gamecocks sweeping both games.

South Carolina will play 16 conference games. The Gamecocks play a home-and-home with Texas and play each of the other SEC teams once.
In the nonconference schedule, South Carolina plays Michigan in Las Vegas on November 4, NC State in Charlotte on November 10, at UCLA on November 25, and Duke on December 5. The Duke game is part of the ACC/SEC Challenge.
South Carolina will also play at Clemson and host UConn. The UConn game ends the current contract and is a make-good for the canceled game in 2022.
According to the contract signed at the time, South Carolina is supposed to play Memphis at the FedEx Forum in return for the 2022 game in Columbia. Bowling Green also owes South Carolina a return game for last season’s meeting in Ohio.
That brings the total number of known games to 24 of a possible 29. East Carolina could owe South Carolina a return game from last season’s game in Greenville. South Carolina owed Charleston Southern a return game from 2022, a game it isn’t eager to play.
The contract with Maryland expired after last season, and it is unknown if the Terps and Gamecocks will continue the series. Dawn Staley likes to schedule one or two opponents from a one-bid conference, usually an HBCU to prepare the Gamecocks for their first-round game in the NCAA Tournament.
