South Carolina women's basketball: Gamecocks extend new scholarship offers
July is a busy month for women’s basketball recruiting with two evaluation (or “live”) periods, when coaches crisscross the country to watch prospective recruits play.
This year, coaches have also traveled to Europe to see prospects play in the FIBA U19 World Cup in Brno, Czechia.
(As an aside, there was a social media kerfluffle when someone told Dawn Staley to stop traveling and coach her team. She – and all the other coaches – have been traveling for recruiting purposes, not vacation. It’s part of the job. Rant over.)
That means coaches are extending new scholarship offers to players who have impressed. South Carolina is no exception, offering at least three new players this week. (The usual caveat: we’re relying on recruits to announce the offers, so there could be more we don’t know about.)

Lola Lampley
2026, Guard, 6-2, Indianapolis, IN
It’s unusual to offer a player this late in the process, and more unusual to sign a player offered this late. However, Lampley is a bit of a late bloomer, and her stock is rising this summer, with new offers to show for it.
In February, Lampley announced a top five of Duke, Mississippi State, Florida State, NC State, and UCLA, but has backed off of that list since receiving additional offers.
Lampley has already visited Florida State and Mississippi State, and has plans to visit LSU and Ole Miss. Lola’s sister Jaylah is a freshman at Mississippi State.
Lampley is ranked 17th in the On3 Industry rankings and 20th by ESPN. She is a good rebounder, and although she is listed as a guard, Lampley probably projects as a forward. She has a solid all-around game, including deft passing ability, but plays best when she is near the paint.
Sydney Savoury
2027, Guard, 5-11, Belleville, MI
Savoury is an elite offensive player who is leading the EYBL circuit in scoring this summer. Going into this weekend’s games, she was averaging 25.6 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 2.4 steals. She averaged 27.7 points, 7.1 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 3.4 steals last season and was named Michigan’s Gatorade Player of the Year.

Savoury is ranked 15th by ESPN. She has said that her goal is to improve as a playmaker, but she still projects as to play off the ball.
Savoury has offers from most of the Big Ten, ACC, and SEC. She visited Kentucky earlier this summer. Her mother played basketball at BYU and is an assistant AD at Michigan.
Sydney Mobley
2027, Forward, 6-2, Sunbury, OH
Mobley is a strong rebound and rim-running prospect who can finish in transition. She averaged 20 points, 11 rebounds, three assists, 2.5 steals, and 1.5 blocks last season. She scored a school-record 38 points in a game in January.
Mobley is ranked 22nd by ESPN. Mobley doesn’t have the prototypical size for a post (although she is listed anywhere from 6-1 to 6-3, so she may still be growing). But athletic bigs who can score don’t grow on trees, so her stock will likely rise.
Mobley visited Florida earlier this summer. South Carolina and Notre Dame are the only blue bloods who have offered Mobley, but that will probably change.
