Tiffany Mitchell made a surprise appearance, Aliyah Boston notched a career-high, Kamilla Cardoso steps into the spotlight, and A’ja Wilson is on record watch. Get caught up on all the details in this week’s Gamecocks in the WNBA.

Atlanta Dream (12-23)
Laeticia Amihere (15 games, 4.7 minutes, 1.1 pts, 1.7 rebs)
Amihere barely played last week, but has a nice assist-to-minute ratio.

Last week:
At Phoenix (74-66 loss): 1 minutes, assist
Vs Dallas (107-96/OT win): DNP-CD
At Indiana (104-100/OT loss): DNP-CD

Allisha Gray (35 games (35 starts), 33.2 mpg, 15.7 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 2.6 apg, 1.0 spg)
Gray continues to be an absolute workhorse for Atlanta. The Dream is a game behind Chicago for the last playoff spot. The two games against Washington look winnable, but the Mystics have made a late-season surge and are just a game behind Atlanta

Last week:
At Phoenix (74-66 loss): 29 minutes*, 9 points, 2 assists, rebound, steal
Vs Dallas (107-96/OT win): 42 minutes*, 19 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, block, steal
At Indiana (104-100/OT loss): 43 minutes*, 15 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals, block

Upcoming games:
Tuesday, September 10 vs Minnesota (7:30 ET, League Pass)
Friday, September 13 vs Washington (7:30 ET, Ion/League Pass)

Chicago Sky (13-22)
Kamilla Cardoso (29 games (26 starts), 27.6 mpg, 9.7 ppg, 8.0 rpg, 1.8 apg, 1.4 bpg)
With Angel Reese sidelined for the rest of the season with a wrist injury, it’s Cardoso’s turn to step into the spotlight. In Chicago’s first game without Reese, Cardoso notched a double-double. The Sky need more of that as they cling to the final playoff spot.

Last week:
At Las Vegas (90-71 loss): 24 minutes*, 14 points, 3 assists, 3 steals, 2 rebounds (fouled out)
Vs Los Angeles (92-78 win): 34 minutes*, 12 points, 9 rebounds, 5 blocks, 2 assists, 2 steals
Vs Dallas (92-77 win): 31 minutes*, 10 points, 11 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks, steal

Connecticut Sun (25-10)
Ty Harris (34 games (33 starts), 28.9 mpg, 10.4 ppg, 3.1 apg, 1.7 rpg, 1.1 spg)
Harris is in a bit of a mini-slump, but her starting role seems secure. Connecticut is a game behind Minnesota for the second seed in the playoffs.

Last week:
Vs Seattle (71-64 loss): 32 minutes*, 2 points, 7 assists, 2 rebounds, steal
Vs Las Vegas (72-67 loss): 27 minutes*, 7 points, assist, block
At Los Angeles (79-67 win): 16 minutes*, 3 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, block

Tiffany Mitchell (24 games, 16.3 mpg, 4.9 ppg, 1.5 rpg)

Mitchell made a surprise return to Connecticut for the game against Las Vegas. It was the first time she had been around the team since the Olympic break, but it is unknown if Mitchell will play again this season. Before the surprise visit, Connecticut coach Stephanie White said “It’s day-by-day. We certainly want to get her back in Connecticut, whether she gets on the floor or not.”

Last week:
Vs Seattle (71-64 loss): DNP-Illness
Vs Las Vegas (72-67 loss): DNP-Illness
At Los Angeles (79-67 win): DNP – Illness

Upcoming games:
Tuesday, September 10 at Los Angeles (10:00 ET, League Pass)
Friday, September 13 at Phoenix (10:00 ET, Ion/League Pass)

Indiana Fever (19-17)
Aliyah Boston (36 games (36 starts), 31.4 mpg, 14.3 ppg, 9.1 rpg, 3.1 apg, 1.3 bpg)
Boston wasn’t happy with how she played two weeks ago, so she bounced back in a big way. She scored a career-high 30 points against Atlanta and Indiana is as hot as any team in the WNBA. They get two pig tests against las Vegas this week.

Last week:
Vs Los Angeles (93-86 win): 33 minutes*, 24 points, 14 rebounds, 4 assists, steal
Vs Minnesota (99-88 loss): 34 minutes*, 20 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, block
Vs Atlanta (104-100/OT win): 41 minutes*, 30 points, 13 rebounds, 5 assists, block, steal

Victaria Saxton (8 games, 2.2 mpg, 0.4 ppg, 0.1 rpg)
Saxton did not play last week.

Last week:

Upcoming games:
Wednesday, September 11 vs Las Vegas (7:00 ET, League Pass)
Friday, September 13 vs Las Vegas (7:30 ET, Ion/League Pass)
Sunday, September 15 vs Dallas (3:00 ET, League Pass)

Las Vegas Aces (22-13)
A’ja Wilson (34 games (34 starts), 34.4 mpg, 27.3 ppg, 11.9 rpg, 2.4 apg, 2.7 bpg, 1.9 spg)
Against Chicago, Wilson tied the WNBA record for most points in a four-game span. She had more modest numbers against Connecticut, but still had five points and four rebounds in the final 2:30 to turn a 54-66 deficit into a 73-67 win (the Sun had just one rebound during that span). The Aces have been trying to rest key players down the stretch, and it was Wilson’s turn against New York, courtesy of a sore foot. It was the first game Wilson missed since 2019, a streak of 172 games. Over the final five games, Wilson needs 11 points to break the single-season scoring record and 41 rebounds to break the single-season rebounding record (she actually already broke the existing record, but trails Angel Reese). The Aces are a game ahead of Seattle for the fourth seed and home-court advantage.

Last week:
Vs Chicago (90-71 win): 35 minutes*, 30 points, 14 rebounds, 3 blocks, 3 assists, 2 steals
At Connecticut  (72-67 win): 37 minutes*, 20 points, 8 rebounds, 2 blocks, 2 steals
At New York (75-71 loss): DNP-Lower leg

Upcoming games:

Los Angeles Sparks (7-28)
Zia Cooke (25 games, 9.0 mpg, 3.4 ppg, 0.7 rpg, 0.6 apg)
With their winless week, the Sparks clinched the best odds for the top pick in the 2025 draft. With that – ahem – goal accomplished, maybe Cooke will get more playing time over the final five games.

Last week:
At Indiana (93-86 loss): DNP-CD
At Chicago  (92-78 loss): 9 minutes, 4 points, steal
Vs Connecticut (79-67 loss): DNP-CD

Upcoming games:
Tuesday, September 10 vs Connecticut (10:00 ET, League Pass)
Wednesday, September 11 vs Seattle (10:00 ET, League Pass)

Phoenix Mercury (17-19)
Mikiah Herbert Harrigan (28 games (3 starts), 10.4 mpg, 2.8 ppg, 1.4 rpg, 0.4 bpg, 0.5 spg)
Phoenix has clinched a playoff spot, and Herbert Harrigan continues to contribute some nice spot minutes.

Last week:
Vs Atlanta (74-66 win): 11 minutes, 4 points, block
Vs Washington (90-77 loss): 4 minutes, 3 points, rebound, assist
At Seattle (90-66 loss): 8 minutes, 5 points, rebound
