South Carolina will play at Louisville on December 4 as part of this season’s ACC/SEC Challenge.

South Carolina is 18-4 all-time against Louisville. The teams met 20 times between 1980 and 1991 as members of the Metro Conference, but only twice since then.

On November 27, 2016, no. 3 South Carolina routed no. 4 Louisville 83-59 in Springfield, MA, as part of the Basketball Hall of Fame Women’s Challenge. On April 1, 2022, South Carolina again cruised to a 72-59 win over Louisville in the Final Four in Minneapolis.

In both seasons in which South Carolina beat Louisville, the Gamecocks went on to win the national championship.

This is the third year of the ACC/SEC Challenge. South Carolina played at North Carolina in 2023 and hosted Duke in 2024, winning both games. The 2023 challenge ended in a 7-7 tie. Last season, the SEC won 10-6.

Louisville is the sixth confirmed non-conference opponent for South Carolina. South Carolina plays Southern Cal in Los Angeles on November 15. The Gamecocks will visit South Florida on December 18.

South Carolina, Duke, Texas, and UCLA play in the Players Era Championship in Las Vegas over Thanksgiving.

The annual rivalry game against Clemson has not been confirmed, but there is no reason to think the Tigers won’t be the seventh non-conference opponent for the Gamecocks. That leaves approximately seven games left to be determined.

The ongoing home-and-home series with UConn, which began in 2015, ended with last season’s game. No agreement to continue the series has been announced.
