Behind career-highs from Chloe Kitts and Bree Hall, #1 South Carolina routed Bowling Green 93-62.

South Carolina made the unusual trip to northwest Ohio as a favor to former assistant coach Fred Chmiel, now in his first season at Bowling Green. But that was where the favoritism stopped.

South Carolina was unstoppable to start the game. The Gamecocks scored on their first eight possessions, going 8-8 and 4-4 from three with seven assists. A turnover by Ashlyn Watkins halted the streak, but South Carolina still made its first 10 shot attempts, including five three-pointers.

Bowling Green was resilient and finished the first quarter on an 8-0 run, but South Carolina’s offense was unrelenting.

Kitts scored the first points of the game and Bowling Green never did find her on defense. With the Falcons focused on Kamilla Cardoso, Kitts repeatedly got open for a variety of layups and short jumpers.

Kitts finished with a career-high 21 points in just 22 minutes, easily surpassing her previous career-high of 14. She shot 10-12 and grabbed six rebounds.

Bree Hall added 18 points, tying her career-high, set last season against Alabama. It was a homecoming of sorts for Hall, who is from Dayton. Hall hit 4-6 from three and played solid defense on Lexi Fleming, Bowling Green’s leading scorer, but missed a pair of fourth-quarter free throws that would have given her a new career-high.

For the game, South Carolina shot 58.7% and hit 9-16 from three. It was the second-best shooting game of the season for South Carolina.

Te-Hina Paopao added 12 points and six assists. Cardoso had 11 points, five assists, and four rebounds.

Morgan Sharps led Bowling Green with 25 points. Fleming was held to 11 points on 4-13 shooting. She entered the game scoring more than 17 points per game.
