On Friday night South Carolina got a commitment from post Adhel Tac, its second 2024 commitment.

Tac made the announcement during a pep rally at her school, South Grand Prairie in Grand Prairie, TX. Her other finalists were Louisville, Georgia, and North Carolina. She visited Louisville, Georgia, and South Carolina, but after her visit to Columbia in October, she canceled the visit to North Carolina.

According to HoopGurlz Tac is the 33rd-ranked prospect in the 2024 class. She is the fourth-ranked post. Tac’s junior season she was ended early due to an injury. She is back to full strength, but the missed time caused Tac to drop slightly in the rankings.

Tac uses her size well and is good at playing with the ball high. She is able to rebound and gather without bringing the ball down, a valuable skill for bigs.

At 6-5, Tac fills a critical recruiting need for South Carolina. The Gamecocks have missed out on several posts in the 2023 and 2024 recruiting cycles. Since signing Aliyah Boston in 2019, South Carolina has only signed one high school post: Ashlyn Watkins, who probably should have been listed as a forward.

The Gamecocks have had to turn to the transfer portal for depth. They brought in Kamilla Cardoso in 2021 and junior college player of the year Sakima Walker this summer.

Tac joins point guard Madisen McDaniel in South Carolina’s 2024 class. McDaniel is the 12th-ranked overall prospect and second-ranked point guard. The Gamecocks are still in the running for Joyce Edwards and Kennedy Smith. They are also finalists for Jaloni Cambridge and Mackenly Randolph.

Counting Tac and McDaniel, South Carolina has 2-5 available scholarships remaining. Kamilla Cardoso, Te-Hina Paopao, and Sakima Walker each have an optional covid season remaining
