South Carolina women’s basketball alums Ty Harris and Kiki Herbert Harrigan have been traded. Just days after Harris was dealt from the Connecticut Sun to the Phoenix Mercury, she is on the move again. This time, though, a three-team blockbuster made WNBA headlines.

The full details for the trade (as reported by ESPN’s Alexa Philippou) are: the Dallas Wings receive Harris, the rights to Herbert Harrigan, NaLyssa Smith, and the No. 8 pick (via Indiana Fever); the Phoenix Mercury receive Satou Sabally, Kalani Brown, and Sevgi Uzon; the Indiana Fever receive Sophie Cunningham and the No. 19 pick (via Phoenix Mercury).

With the wording of “rights to” Herbert Harrigan, it is unclear if she will remain with the Wings. She was back on a WNBA roster and saw her first on-court action since 2021. With the Mercury, Herbert Harrigan played solid defense as a versatile reserve.

The trade sends Harris back to her first WNBA squad. The Dallas Wings selected her in the first round (seventh pick) of the 2020 WNBA Draft. She spent three seasons with the Wings as a reserve. However, the 2024 season was her best as a pro. In her first opportunity as a full-time starter in the WNBA, Harris averaged 10.5 points, three assists, and a steal. She also finished the year ranked in the top 10 in the league in 3-point shooting percentage (39.5%).

The Dallas Wings did not make the 2024 WNBA playoffs. Both Harris and Herbert Harrigan (with the Sun and Mercury, respectively) made the postseason.

During their South Carolina women’s basketball careers, Herbert Harrigan and Harris played together for four years. The duo won the 2016-2017 National Championship as freshmen. Both players went on to become All-SEC players, and Harris was even an All-American.
