South Carolina women's basketball: How to watch Gamecocks at the AmeriCup Tournament

The Gamecocks will be well-represented at the 2025 FIBA AmeriCup in Santiago, Chile. Three current, future, and past Gamecocks will participate.
Rising sophomore Joyce Edwards will represent Team USA. Incoming freshman Ayla McDowell and former Gamecock Kamilla Cardoso will play for Brazil.
McDowell is a 6-2 wing from Houston who is ranked 15th in the 2025 class. Although she was born in the United States, her mother is from Brazil, so McDowell competes internationally for Brazil.
Edward is seeking her third USA gold medal. She won gold at the 2023 FIBA U19 World Cup (with future teammate Chloe Kitts) and the 2024 FIBA U18 AmeriCup. Edwards was the AmeriCup MVP and named to the World Cup All-Star Five.
Although the AmeriCup is technically for senior national teams, because the United States has such a deep talent pool, the Americans typically send a developmental squad. Prior to 2019, the Americans often declined to even enter the tournament.
McDowell made her FIBA debut for Brazil at the U18 AmeriCup last summer. McDowell also competed for the World team at the Nike Hoop Summit in April.
Cardoso led Brazil to the gold medal in the 2023 AmeriCup, beating the USA (and her teammate Raven Johnson) in the final. Cardoso was named tournament MVP, setting the stage for her dominant senior season at South Carolina.
AmeriCup is the qualifying tournament for the 2026 World Cup. The winner qualifies directly for the World Cup. The top six teams qualify for the World Cup Qualifying Tournaments in March 2026.
