On Tuesday morning South Carolina will visit the White House to be honored for winning the 2024 national championship.
The ceremony will take place in the East Room of the White House at 11:00 am ET. The event will be streamed on C-SPAN and the White House YouTube channel.
President Joe Biden will welcome the Gamecocks to the White House. Vice President Kamala Harris, who attended a Gamecock practice in Columbia in January, will not be in attendance. Traditionally, teams present the President with a personalized team jersey.
Men’s champion UConn is also in Washington to be honored. The Huskies’ ceremony takes place at 1:30 pm ET, also in the East Room.

The invitation was extended and accepted on Thursday, August 29. The Gamecocks did not visit the White House after the 2017 or 2022 titles. In 2017 the invitation was extended just days before the 2018 season began and Staley declined in order to focus on the upcoming season.
After the 2022 championship, Rep. James Clyburn, who is friends with Staley, extended an invitation on behalf of the President during the championship parade. However, the visit never came to fruition. Reportedly, the White House eventually tried to schedule a visit this past March, but again Staley declined to focus on the season.
Three members of last season’s undefeated team are unable to attend the ceremony. Kamilla Cardoso, the Final Four MOP, has moved on to the WNBA and her Chicago Sky are in the midst of a tight playoff race. Sania Feagin is in Mongolia to play for USA Basketball in the FIBA U23 3×3 World Cup. Ashlyn Watkins remains suspended following her arrest on August 31.
