Kamilla Cardoso will miss at least South Carolina’s next two games while she plays for the Brazilian national team.
Brazil will play in the Olympic qualifying tournament in Belem, Brazil. The other countries participating are Germany, Serbia, and Australia. The top three teams qualify for the Olympics
The countries play a round-robin format from February 8-11 (February 9 is a rest day). Brazil plays Australia, Serbia, and then Germany.
Cardoso will miss South Carolina’s games against Missouri (February 8), and UConn (February 11). South Carolina’s next game is on February 15 at Tennessee
Recently, Ole Miss coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin jokingly begged Dawn Staley to make sure Cardoso’s flight to Brazil left before the end of the Rebels’ game against the Gamecocks, but didn’t get her wish.
A 6-7 senior post, Cardoso is averaging 13.7 points, 10.1 rebounds, 2.8 blocks, and 2.1 assists this season. All are career highs.
