South Carolina made the top ten for Aaliyah Chavez, the top overall prospect in the class of 2025.
Chavez announced her top ten on social media Sunday night. In addition to the Gamecocks, Texas Tech, Southern Cal, Arizona, Oklahoma, Ohio State, LSU, UCLA, Texas, and Tennessee made her list of finalists.
Chavez is a point guard from Lubbock, TX (explaining why Texas Tech made her list of finalists). However she will likely play off the ball in college to take advantage of her elite scoring ability. Chavez set her high school’s career scoring record as a sophomore and is on pace for more than 4,000 career points.

ESPN compared Chavez to Kelsey Plum, the NCAA’s all-time leading scorer, for her ability to shoot or get to the rim. Chavez averaged 30.0 points, 7.2 rebounds, 5.2 assists, and 3.1 steals as a sophomore.
Chavez becomes the second player in the 2025 class to list South Carolina as one of her finalists. Sienna Betts named South Carolina to her top 11 in late May.
