Mbs1: Who coaches the bigs?
They don’t really split things up by position, so everyone has a hand in it. New assistant Wendale Farrow is 6-7 and was a solid rebounder back in his playing days, so he should be an asset working with the bigs.
BigCatBill: Any schedule insights? If not, any idea when the SEC releases its slate?
I did a breakdown about a month ago and nothing has really changed since then. The Hall of Fame Series has been announcing its games this week and it looks like USC won’t play one of those games this year.
The only SEC home-and-home we know right now is that Texas and LSU are paired. They announced the opponents last May, so we should find out soon. The actual schedule wasn’t announced until August.
RoosterPrime: Have the newcomers been assigned jersey numbers yet?
Not yet. The past two years, they announced that at the beginning of July.
Ta’Niya Latson will probably be 00, which she wore at Florida State. Madina Okot wore 15 at Mississippi State, so either she or Adhel Tac will have to change. Agot Makeer has worn 1 and 11 throughout her career, so she’ll probably be 11 (Maddy McDaniel has 1). Ayla McDowell has seemingly worn a different number at every event, so who knows what she will pick.

Garnetspur: Will Chloe Kitts play shooting forward (wing) in the upcoming year?
I can’t answer that, but it would be nice if she could play the wing for at least a few minutes a game to open up some more playing time for the other forwards.
Abush: Do you think the staff still goes after a small fish in the portal, or is the roster complete?
I’ve got a wrap-up story on the portal running next week and I’ll cover this. The teaser is that they are probably done unless there is, as you called it, a small fish who isn’t coming here to play major minutes.
will110: Any idea what Dawn Staley’s career timeline looks like? Does she want to retire at South Carolina, or do you think there’s one more coaching opportunity she’d want to take a crack at?
She has said she doesn’t want to coach past 60, and her most recent contract extension happens to run out when she turns 60 (2030). Personally, I think that she’s so competitive and loves coaching so much that she’s got more than five years left.
csugamecock: Will Ashlyn Watkins get a redshirt year?
Based on the rules, Watkins is not eligible for a redshirt. But the NCAA has been handing out redshirts left and right, so it’s worth applying.
