A pair of South Carolina women’s basketball commitments were in New York for the McDonald’s All-American Game on Tuesday. Versatile wings Agot Makeer and Ayla McDowell had good showings against the very best prospects in the nation.

Makeer, a 6-1 athlete who can play any position but center, scored seven points in the game’s first quarter. She also showcased some of her defensive chops by guarding multiple positions and recording a pair of blocks.

You can watch some of her highlights from the contest here.

McDowell was the first player in the game to reach double-figures in scoring. She had 10 points before halftime as she operated well off-ball, showcased her ability to hit from outside, and demonstrated a solid handle as she drove to the basket.

South Carolina signed just two players in the class of 2025. However, if the McDonald’s All-American Game is any indication, there will be two freshmen making an impact in Columbia next season. Both Makeer and McDowell are versatile enough to handle multiple roles on the court, providing USC head coach Dawn Staley additional flexibility as she works to integrate them into the rotation next season.

Before the McDonald’s All-American Game on Tuesday, the players had the opportunity to speak to the media on Monday.

Makeer had a lot to say about the “honor” of playing for Coach Staley and also her confidence in her ability to help out right away next year. You can read about it here.

McDowell’s comments centered around her willingness to “do the little things” on and off the floor to be a successful player and person. You can read about it here.
