South Carolina women's basketball: MiLaysia Fulwiley and Joyce Edwards help the Gamecocks rout Missouri
South Carolina’s bench helped the Gamecocks pull away from Missouri in the second half for an 83-52 win.
The game had little flow thanks to overly aggressive officials who called 49 total fouls. There were 30 whistles against Missouri and 19 against South Carolina.
Battling through the fouls, South Carolina used an 11-0 first-quarter run to take a 17-8 lead. Missouri nearly erased the lead in the second quarter with an 8-0 run to pull within 25-23.
The run ended when Joyce Edwards was fouled on a rebound. Missouri was over the foul limit, sending Edwards to the line for two free throws.
Over the next 1:42, Edwards sank both free throws, found Tessa Johnson for a transition layup, converted a three-point play, and scored a putback. She was responsible for all nine points during the 9-0 run that put South Carolina back in control.

The teams held serve for most of the third quarter until another South Carolina reserve took over. MiLaysia Fulwiley had been quiet most of the game, but she sparked the decisive run with her defense.
She grabbed a defensive rebound and fired ahead to Tessa Johnson for a layup and then blocked a shot that led to a shot clock violation. Then came her usual array of spectacular baskets in the paint.
South Carolina scored 11 straight points to end the third, and Fulwiley had five points, two assists, two rebounds, two blocks, and a steal during that span. South Carolina scored the first six points of the fourth quarter to make it a 17-0 run and turn the game into a blowout.
